What to Expect

First, I’ll meet you where you are in your spiritual life and journey. The Christian perspective and integrative work level depend on your faith experience and counseling needs. You can expect a safe, welcoming space to discuss your problems and trials. I will explore your concerns and what’s going on in your life, and your beliefs and relationship with God. I will incorporate God’s Word, Biblical worldview, and prayer into processing your problems and developing coping strategies. As you work on your counseling goals, I will provide tools and techniques you can use outside of therapy. I will routinely ask for your feedback to ensure your counseling sessions are tailored to your life and needs.

Benefits of Christian Counseling

1. Spiritual Anchoring

For individuals whose faith is integral to their identity, Christian counseling provides a safe space to explore their challenges while drawing strength from their spiritual beliefs. This can lead to a more profound sense of purpose and resilience.

2. Guidance and Hope

Integrating Biblical wisdom and psychological insights offers a comprehensive toolkit for navigating life's difficulties. Clients often find solace in the direction provided by both disciplines.

3. Self-compassion

Christian counseling emphasizes concepts like self-compassion, self-acceptance, and forgiveness, which can be transformative for individuals dealing with guilt, shame, or broken relationships.

4. Community and Support

Christian counseling encourages clients to engage with their faith communities, fostering a sense of belonging and support outside therapy sessions.

5. Vitality

Pain is an inevitable part of life. Christian counseling helps clients learn to respond flexibly to painful experiences, enabling them to connect to their values. For many Christian counseling clients, God is their highest priority. We experience vitality when connected to who and what matters most to us.

6. The Transformative Journey

Personal transformation lies at the heart of Christian counseling. Through self-reflection, spiritual guidance, and therapeutic techniques, individuals embark on a journey of healing and growth. Clients may develop resilience, renewed purpose, and a deeper connection to their faith as they work through challenges.

Let’s Work Together!

When you call or email to schedule your first appointment, we will briefly discuss what you seek from counseling, and I will answer initial questions about your first visit.  This will not resemble what counseling is actually like with me. It’s an opportunity to discuss how to get started.

In the first session, we will get to know each other more, I will ask questions about your primary challenges and counseling goals, and I will answer any questions you have about your counseling experience. Follow-up sessions typically occur weekly, and we can adjust the frequency of your visits after some time.

You don’t have to go through your life struggles alone.
