Counselor Supervision for Northern Kentucky LPCAs

In-person, ACT-informed supervision in Fort Thomas—with the attention and availability that helps you grow faster

As an LPCA, you’re doing real clinical work while you’re still becoming the clinician you want to be. That can feel stretching—case conceptualization, ethics, documentation, client risk, and the quiet pressure to “get it right.”

Supervision shouldn’t feel like a box to check. It should feel like a steady place to think clearly, practice wisely, and grow on purpose.

If you’re looking for in-person supervision in Fort Thomas and want a supervisor who is present, responsive, and clinically engaged, I’d be honored to talk and see if we’re a good fit.

When you’re an LPCA, it’s easy to second-guess everything

You might resonate with any of these:

  • You replay sessions, wondering if you missed something.
  • You feel stuck in case conceptualization or treatment planning.
  • Documentation takes longer than it “should.”
  • You’re navigating anxiety, perfectionism, shame, trauma, or complex dynamics—and you want to do it well.
  • You want to integrate ACT more confidently (without sounding scripted).
  • You carry client stories home more than you'd admit.
  • You want a supervisor you can actually reach when clinical questions come up.

If any of that hits close to home, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to white-knuckle your way through.

What you can gain from supervision

Our work focuses on helping you become a steadier, clearer, more effective clinician—not just someone who logs hours.

Common outcomes supervisees work toward:

  • More explicit conceptualization: seeing patterns, functions, and stuck points
  • Confident sessions: pacing, presence, interventions, and direction
  • Stronger ACT application: psychological flexibility for clients and for you
  • Ethical steadiness: decisions you can defend and feel good about
  • Cleaner documentation: progress notes that are efficient and clinically sound
  • Sustainable practice: less spiraling after sessions; more groundedness and longevity
  • Professional identity: finding your “therapist voice” and using your authentic self wisely

A unique advantage: Supervision in a private practice setting

Many LPCAs have supervisors who mean well—but are stretched thin by high caseloads and administrative demands.

My practice is intentionally structured to allow high attention and availability for both clients and supervisees. I limit how many people I work with so supervision can be:

  • More responsive (within clear boundaries)
  • More clinically deep (not rushed)
  • More developmentally focused (you as a growing professional, not just your cases)
  • More practical (skills you can use immediately)

If you’ve been wanting supervision that feels like a true partnership—thoughtful, direct, and supportive—this is what I love to offer.

My supervision approach

ACT-informed, developmentally grounded, clinically practical

ACT isn’t just a therapy model; it’s a powerful lens for supervision.

In supervision, we practice:

  • Presence over pressure
Learning to stay grounded in the therapy room instead of performing.
  • Unhooking from the “not good enough” story
Not by arguing with it, but by noticing it, making room for it, and choosing wise action anyway.
  • Values-led clinical work
Clarifying the kind of counselor you want to be and ensuring your choices (interventions, boundaries, ethics) align with your values and vision.
  • Committed action and skill-building
Each meeting ends with specific next steps: a clinical experiment, a practice intervention, a documentation tweak, or a values-based goal.
  • Use of self with integrity
How you show up with your clients matters. We’ll make “use of self” practical by addressing pacing, boundaries, awareness of countertransference, emotional carryover, and sustainable care.

Supervision with me is likely a good fit if you’re:

  • An LPCA in Kentucky seeking thoughtful, structured supervision
  • Wanting in-person supervision in Fort Thomas (with occasional fallback options if needed).
  • Hungry to grow clinically—not just “get hours.”
  • Interested in ACT skills and case conceptualization (even if you don’t practice ACT exclusively).
  • Either faith-integrated, faith-curious, or simply wanting supervision that respects your values and worldview.
  • Looking for a supervisor who is warm, direct, and engaged.

I may not be the best fit if you’re looking for minimal contact, a quick sign-off, or the lowest-cost option.

Format and availability

Primarily in-person in Fort Thomas

Supervision is in-person whenever possible. Like with my clients, I may use secure video as a fallback when circumstances require it, but I don’t build my supervision offering around video.

Between-session support

If we decide it’s clinically appropriate, I’m open to limited between-session consult for quick questions (e.g., brief calls or messaging).

Kentucky supervision requirements and paperwork

Kentucky’s LPCA supervision rules include minimum supervision frequency standards (e.g., three times per month for full-time practice, or one hour per 30 client-contact hours for part-time practice) and indicate that supervision may include interactive, simultaneous video and audio within confidentiality requirements.

We’ll also complete the LPCA Supervision Agreement and maintain a board-consistent structure.

(As always, you’ll want to review your setting’s policies and the Board’s current materials as part of your licensure plan.) lpc.ky.gov
